Z Contracting Ltd is a family-owned and operated company, we incorporated in June 1997 after running the business as a partnership for several years. We are based just out of the kiwifruit capital of New Zealand - Te Puke.

The partnership (Neil and Bridget Woodward) was initially involved in kiwifruit canopy management including picking work as well as mowing, weed spraying, fertiliser spreading, and crop spraying which has now become our prime focus.

Because of this comprehensive history, we have an excellent understanding of year-round activities on the orchard, and how our spraying business needs to integrate with other orchard operations, and how they need to integrate around the spraying component of orchard management.

We started spraying initially with tractors and trail behind sprayers (often fun times in the old T-bar days), upgrading our equipment over time as better, safer gear became available. Our sprayer operators are all now safely working in enclosed, air-conditioned cabs, a huge step away from sweltering in spray suits with heads enclosed in Ned Kelly, type helmets.

Our three staff collectively have well over 100 years of combined experience in applying crop protection products to horticultural crops with approximately two-thirds of that in the kiwifruit industry.
